In 1966 Mother of the Church Convent was opened in Newport; County Mayo, Ireland on property donated by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mumford-Smith, again as a result of a request: to supply employment for Irish girls and so keep them from emigrating and facing the danger of losing their Faith in an unfamiliar and often un--Christian atmosphere. At first, knitted and sewn items were manufactured in the factory that was set up; soft toys made there were sold all over Ireland and parts of America and Europe. In 1982 the need for a local nursery school was met by the Sisters, who have also been jr1 Eucharistic ministers in the Newport parish.

As she so desired, the mission of Saint Lucy Filippini continues through the members of her religious family also in Mater Christi Region, England and Ireland.
