Romans 10: 13 -17 ... For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? And how can people preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news!” But not everyone has heeded the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what was heard from us?” Thus faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
When we reflect on the mission of the Church to proclaim the Good News, certainly we realize that education is of paramount importance. As Maestre Pie Filippini, Religious Teachers Filippini, we are compelled to continue the mission of Christ the Teacher. Our schools, first and foremost, are places where students, parents, faculty, and staff encounter Jesus Christ. It is the responsibility of each Religious Teacher Filippini to be a part of fostering such an environment. From the first greeting in the morning until the last light is closed at the end of the day, every word, action, gesture and interaction should enkindle a desire to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ, and thus live in communion with His teachings, inspired by the nourishment of the Word and the sacraments.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Saint Lucy Filippini moved forward with passion to establish schools of Christian Doctrine. With unshakable tenacity and a vision to change the world, Saint Lucy set forth overcoming many obstacles to ensure that the schools respond to the needs of the times and thus contribute to the spiritual well- being of the church.
The Filippini Sisters have educated tens of thousands of students in the Catholic faith. We have partnered with good holy priests, devoted laity, and caring parents to ensure that the faith, and the truths and practices of the Catholic traditions are handed on. As an education team, we have sent forth generations of Catholic scholars who go on to become the voice and conscience in society, standing as advocates for every social and economic background.
Our Filippini Schools provide and encourage worship opportunities, liturgical participation and leadership, sacramental celebrations, works of charity, outreach to the poor, respect for creation, and a living out of the commandments as a means to knowing and loving God, and the path to freedom and joy.
We, Religious Teachers Filippini, are committed to bringing a lively presence of Jesus Christ to every young person entrusted to our care. It is our duty and privilege to teach the truth in Catholic doctrine and practice. For this exchange of faith to bear fruit, we are called to live as authentic religious. The young people yearn to know and live out their faith. Our witness to the Gospel, while living the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience with enthusiasm, is what gives credence to the Truth we teach. It nullifies the empty promises of society and inspires fidelity to Jesus Christ.
The demands, expectations and obstacles that we face while attempting to bring Christ to all those whom He sends, are met and overcome through prayer and sacrifice, individually and as a religious community.
